From opening the lens cap to putting a print away. A little help with the things you might be wondering about.
Why is the viewfinder black, or showing a lens cap message?
Tap the viewfinder to open the lens cap. It closes automatically after a long period of inactivity. Just tap again to open it.
How do I allow camera access after denying it?
On your iPhone, go to Settings → Whimsy Cam and turn on Camera access.
How do instant prints develop, and how do I put them away?
A print develops gradually after it slides out. In the app’s album, shake your phone to speed up development. Drag a print downward to put it in the album. With PULL-33, wait until development is complete, then peel off the backing paper.
How do I make a sticker?
Choose STICKER, PEEL or CANDY and point it at an object. A simple background and a closer shot can help the app recognize the subject. If it cannot find a subject, it makes a square sticker first.
How do I add text to a sticker?
Open a sticker’s detail view and tap Text. Choose a phrase or type your own. Drag to move the text, or use two fingers to resize and rotate it. Change the style, font, size and color with the controls below.
Why am I seeing the default font?
Some fonts need an internet connection to download the first time you use them. The selected font appears automatically when the download finishes.
Why can’t I feel any haptic feedback?
Make sure haptic feedback is enabled in the app’s settings. Also check Settings → Sounds & Haptics → System Haptics on your iPhone.
Why can’t I save to Photos?
Go to Settings → Whimsy Cam → Photos on your iPhone and allow Add Photos Only, then try saving again.
Can I import old photos or videos?
Yes. Tap the import button on the camera and choose a photo or video to reprint it with the current camera.
Where are my creations stored, and how do I delete them?
They are kept only in the app’s local storage on your phone. Delete individual creations from the app’s album, or delete the app to clear all its local data. iCloud or computer backups may include app data, depending on your device settings.
Which languages are supported, and how do I switch?
The app supports Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean. It follows your iPhone’s language setting by default. To choose a language just for the app, go to Settings → Whimsy Cam → Language.
What device and iOS version do I need?
An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
